About The Mentor

Mike is a UK Chartered Accountant, US Certified Public Accountant and Certified Financial Analyst who is an expert facilitator specializing in IFRS, IPSAS and US GAAP. Mike has a long track record of delivering tailor-made training solutions around the world with more than 20 years of experience ranging from the Big 4 accounting firms to various public and private entities. During the last five years in the GCC region, he has acquired significant experience in providing tailored training programs for companies transitioning to IFRS. As a lead developer of IFRS training programs for several clients in the GCC region, Mike designed the IFRS conversion training material for SABIC, which was delivered to over a few hundred of their finance staff. Beyond his experience and knowledge concerning GCC specific regional IFRS implementation issues, Mike’s training activities span the globe, from fundamental to advanced programs, and reach a variety of different cultures. Mike has been invited to deliver a number of technical workshops to the Institute of the Chartered Accountants of Pakistan in which he addressed current issues and recent developments of IFRS in an interactive style to demanding audiences of highly experienced accountants. Mike also delivers training to mid-tier audit firms and his delivery style is intensive, hands-on and practical and serves to elucidate current hot topics and IFRS technical issues relevant to partners, managers and senior staff. Mike is the co-founder, course designer, examiner, and facilitator for the US GAAP Diploma for Chartered Accountants Ireland from 2008 to 2010; relaunched in 2018 as an Advanced Certificate in US GAAP. Mike’s non-academic training approach is highly regarded by participants, as his case studies and training method focus on practical application of standards. Mike has also worked extensively on international training projects for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW). These include programs on IFRS to NATO and a World Bank funded program aimed at the Nigerian Securities and Exchange Commission involving 30 days of training for each staff on IFRS compliance and regulatory matters. The Nigerian program material and case studies were developed bespoke by Mike for this project. With ICAEW Mike has trained clients in Bangladesh (IFRS), Cambodia, (IFRS & IPSAS), China (IFRS), Ghana (IFRS & IPSAS), Nigeria (IFRS), Myanmar (IFRS & IPSAS), Pakistan (IFRS), Philippines (US GAAP, IFRS and COSO control framework), South Korea (IFRS), Sri Lanka (IFRS), Tanzania (IFRS & IPSAS) and Vietnam (IFRS). Additionally, over a three-year period, Mike personally provided 200 training days to NATO finance staff, developed key sections of the IPSAS (IFRS equivalent for the public sector) NATO specific accounting manual, and served as a technical advisor on NATO implementation issues. On all of Mike’s technical IFRS training programs, delegates greatly appreciate the case studies that follow on IFRS application scenarios with detailed discussion and guidance on practical application. His blend of technical knowledge and practical experience contribute to the overall success of his training programs. In addition to unparalleled technical expertise, he brings a unique ability to integrate technical financial accounting and management concepts into real-life scenarios, while keeping a focus on achieving agreed-upon learning objectives.

We have been working with LEORON for the past two years and will be working with them again this upcoming year. The programs they delivered were fruitful and exciting and our organization has received positive feedback from the participants. What our organization aims to do is to provide at no cost training for all the private sector employees so that they may benefit from our offered programs in Innovation and Professional development. Leoron has helped us achieve this goal. We look forward to continuing this service and wish them the best of luck. Regards,
